In August 2016 the Jamul Indian Village signed a 30-year gaming compact with the State of California. Construction on the $430 million, three-story casino began in January 2015.Īfter the tribe signed a gaming compact with the state in 1999, there were 15 years of legal hurdles to gain approval. The casino site is located on state Route 94 about 20 miles east of downtown San Diego. The Jamul Indian Village (JIV) entered into a partnership with Penn National Gaming to build a Hollywood-branded casino on 6 acres of tribal land in San Diego County. The distance from San Diego is the shortest of any other Indian gaming casino in San Diego County. The casino is 20 minutes from downtown San Diego driving on Hwy 94. Jamul Casino is an Indian gaming casino owned by the Jamul Indian Village and located east of San Diego.
